“A portrait with a person should show the relationship between the model and the photographer. And you should be able to see that the model has a good feeling and can let herself be free.”
Intercru: Where are you from? Where do you live and work now?
Niko: I’m from Heidelberg, it’s a really pretty and romantic city in Germany. Here is where I lost my heart ;)
What kind of emotions do you look for in your photos?
At first I try to create real memories. When I take photos for myself I love to remember the time with my friends and family. And when I go out for other people, I love to create memories for them, like for a wedding in order to document their good time.
And when I do commercial stuff, I copy this feeling in these photos. And of course it should release a good and warm feeling :)
For you, what makes the perfect photo?
It depends what kind of photo it is.
A portrait with a person should show the relationship between the model and the photographer. And you should be able to see that the model has a good feeling and can let herself be free.
In news or documentary photography, I like when nobody recognizes that a camera was there.
What do you do to find inspiration for your photography?
I get my dose of inspiration from the people who surrounding me. I’m connected everyday with creative people from music and art scene.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Be humble.
