“I’m honestly proud of myself for realising that I need more from life than a 9-5 and for being brave enough to trust that feeling and act on it”
Already friday: Where are you from? Where do you live and work now?
Anete: I live in London and really love it here, but I definitely see myself spending more time in Europe, which is where I’m originally from. I think deep down my heart belongs to France and the South of Europe!
How did you get started in photography?
My grandpa introduced me to film photography nearly 10 years ago. He had all these amazing analogue cameras from the 50’s and 70’s that I fell in love with!
I started pursuing photography professionally a couple of years ago when I realised the freedom and adventures it would bring me.
What drew you to shooting film?
One of my favourite photographers said that digital photography captures data and film captures emotion and I truly believe that. I love the mistakes, imperfections, and the excitement of not knowing exactly what you’re going to end up with.
What’s your favorite type of film to use? Favorite analogue camera?
Most of my professional projects are shot with Kodak Portra 400, but I’m happy with whatever I can get my hands on!
I love my Contax G1 & old random point-and-shoots equally. You definitely don’t need expensive gear to get beautiful results.
Where do you find creative inspiration?
I get really inspired by old movies, nostalgic photos, and beautiful places.
Who is your favorite photographer or artist?
I love photographers who lived and worked in the mid/late 20th century.
Eve Arnold’s photos of Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich & Anna Karina (among many others) are so effortlessly beautiful and full of emotions.
What really makes you happy?
Simple things like fresh flowers, morning coffee, beautiful locations, and authentic people.
What’s your proudest accomplishment?
I’m honestly proud of myself for realising that I need more from life than a 9-5 and for being brave enough to trust that feeling and act on it. You only need a split second of courage to make significant changes in your life!
Who knows you the best?
My partner and my journal.
In 3 words how would you describe yourself?
Nostalgic, empathetic, dreamer.
Who is your biggest hero?
Everyone who dares to dream and finds the courage to follow their heart.
What is the best advice you would give to any aspiring film photographers?
Connect with as many people as you can and don’t let your self-doubt or fears ever hold you back!
