Tiffany Roubert

“Photography connects me with a lot of people and at the same time it can be a lonely and peaceful activity. I love how it can be incredibly exciting but also meditative.”

Intercru: Where are you from?

Tiffany: I’m from the south of France, a little village near Marseille.

Where do you live and work now?

I usually live and work in London but at the moment I’m in Brazil where I’ve been for the past couple of months.

How did you get started in photography?

By traveling!

In 2011 I went to Australia for a year and taking picture was not only a way to share the beauty of that country with my family and friends back home, but also a way for me to keep a visual memory of this incredible experience- if that makes sense!

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

Cliché answer but: everywhere! From a special light in the most mundane place to a breathtaking view in an incredible country.

I also find inspiration in the people that surround me... my wife Carla is my ultimate muse. And I get a lot of inspiration from movies, obviously.

What really makes you happy?

Waking up with a coffee that tastes like tea (true story, my coffees are the worst) and going on a little adventure somewhere to take beautiful pictures. As simple as that. Here I am being cliché again!

What is your favorite part about photography?

It connects me with a lot of people and at the same time it can be a lonely and peaceful activity. I love how it can be incredibly exciting but also meditative.

What would your dream photoshoot be like?

I’ve never dreamed of being in a luxurious photo studio or having a big crew and that kind of stuff. My dream photoshoot (if I can call it this way) would be to go to a foreign country documenting something that really matters. That’s very hard to get into though... if you’re an NGO reading this, hit me up haha!

Who are some of your favorite accounts on social media right now?

@sebzanella! Couldn’t be more in love with his grainy-poetic shots!

Also, I’m in total admiration with the humanitarian work of @jeremysnell. I recently got his book “Boys of Volta” which has a lot of stunning and inspiring work. I highly recommend it!

What’s your proudest accomplishment?

Living in my favorite city (London) doing what I love.

If you could travel back in time, when and where would you go?

To the ’30s! The golden age of photojournalism!

Who knows you the best?

My ultimate best friend: my mum!

What advice would you give to other aspiring photographers?

Keep a camera with you at all time (an advice that I keep repeating to myself too, even today).
