Rosa Scipion
For our latest article, Intercru spoke with talented photographer Rosa Scipion, whose gorgeous photography centers around natural beauty and female empowerment. “When I shoot with women I want them to feel confident, empowered, in admiration and in love with themselves as each woman holds her own natural beauty.”
Intercru: Where are you from? Where do you live and work now?
Rosa: I am Dutch/Peruvian but I was raised in the island of Ibiza, Spain where I am based and work with my photography. But I’ve shot in US, Holland, Bali, South Africa…
How did you get started in photography?
I’ve been carrying a camera since I was 16, and from there I slowly realized it was something I wanted to keep doing and turn into my career. It took around 6 years of shooting different stuff until I realized at the age of 23 that fashion and working with models and women was my favorite subject to shoot.
What kind of emotions do you look for in your photos?
When I shoot fashion I want my client to be satisfied and happy with the content we create together.
When I shoot with women I want them to feel confident, empowered, in admiration and in love with themselves as each woman holds her own natural beauty.
In your photos, how do you choose to empower women?
I love to shoot nude photography and in nature. I feel that being naked brings out the rawness and vulnerability in ourselves, and that is what empowers us. This shows the real me and being out in nature connects us with the source and to ourselves again.
For you, what makes the perfect photo?
A naked body surrounded by a massive, beautiful, epic natural landscape.
What do you do to find inspiration for your photography?
Instagram and Pinterest are big inspirational spaces for me to look through, but also looking at my camera collection and getting inspired by different cameras and who I'm shooting with.
Having alone time by the sea and gazing at the landscape.
Driving around and scouting new locations.
What advice would you give to anyone who wants to empower women/others through photography and art?
Let the person you’re portraying feel comfortable around you and let them be and show their truest self and own natural beauty.
