Intercru: Where are you from?

Julius: I am from Recklinghausen, a town located in West Germany.

How did you get started in photography?

I started with photography almost exactly four years ago. Of course I experimented with my parents’ cameras over the years during my childhood, but 2016 was the year I bought my very own camera.

It took me about another year or so to really develop photography as one of my main hobbies.

What do you do to find creative inspiration?

Honestly, I am constantly amazed with the amount of photography talent on Instagram, so that is where I find inspiration and motivation as well. Although it can be overwhelming too, so you gotta be careful with
the quantity of your content input.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

Probably Paul Hüttemann as well as Niko Neithardt and André Josselin.

How would you define your creative style?

2020 was the year that I realized in which direction I wanted to go. I love analogue vibes and darker, grainy pictures. I am still not nearly where I would like to be, but I’m learning something new with every new photo series I take.

Do you plan out the photos that you take or are they all spontaneous?

It used to be the latter one, but as time moved one I realized that not every photo can be achieved at any given situation. So usually I have an idea, try it out beforehand and if an opportunity arises, I bring my camera.
