Iciar Carrasco
In our latest article, Intercru had the chance to speak to photographer extraordinaire Iciar Carrasco. Check out the interview to learn a little more about the woman behind the camera.
Intercru: Where are you from?
Iciar: Madrid, Spain.
Where do you live and work now?
After traveling a lot and living a nomadic life for a while between Berlin, Paris, and New York, I now live in my hometown Madrid. I’ve been based here for 4 years and I love it.
Who is your favorite photographer?
I really love Venetia Scott, Vivian Maier, Nan Goldin, and Berenice Abott.
What really makes you happy?
Just being in nature, feeling free, and the smell of summer. And my favorite place, Menorca.
If a genie gave you 3 wishes, what would they be?
Health, time traveling, and my dream house.
Who’s your favorite band or musician?
It’s very difficult to say just one! Dorothy Ashby, John Cale, Galaxie500, Frankie Reyes, Ali Farka Touré, Glenn Gould, Dolly Parton, Elton John, HAIM, or Taylor Swift are some of the ones that come quick to my mind.
If you could travel back in time, when and where would you go?
I would love to live in the 70s and travel around the world.
What’s your favorite color?
Yellow- it makes me happy when I see it.
Having said that, I almost always dress in either beige or black tones and my home is super neutral, mainly in whites.
Who is your biggest hero?
Every woman who’s fought for equality rights all throughout history, public figures or anonymous.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
PATIENCE! I hate waiting and I still have to remind this to myself every once in a while.
Who would play you in a Hollywood movie about your life?
Hard to say. In an imaginary universe I would love it to be Cate Blanchett. But I think she’s way to accomplished to play this small role haha.
If you had a superpower what would it be?
I’ve always dreamt about flying but then again, I kinda have a bit of fear of heights. Maybe this would be exactly what I need!
