“I believe that if you think of someone a certain way it really comes across in the images you take of them”
Intercru: Where are you from? Where are you living/working now?
Ágnes: I’m from Budapest, Hungary, which is still my favorite city in the whole world, but I’ve been living and working in London for the past 8 years.
What got you started in photography?
I come from a quite artistic family, so it was obvious to me that I wanted to do something creative and despite trying out many things, photography was what most resonated with me.
I didn’t have my own camera when I started out; I was always borrowing from friends and worked really hard in the meantime to save money for one. It was one of my best investments.
What is it you love most about being a photographer?
Being able to create and collaborate with other creatives and picture people the way I see them. I believe that if you think of someone a certain way it really comes across in the images you take of them.
Who are some of your favorite photographers?
There is a very long list of photographers whose work I admire. A few of them are Annie Leibovitz, Camilla Akrans, Nadine Ijewere, and Sonia Szostak.
Where do you find inspiration for your photos?
I mainly get inspired by faces and places, but experiences and feelings always play a huge part in the process too. Sometimes I look at pictures I took and realize that I have been influenced by something unconsciously at the time and I really like that because in a way I’m finding myself through my photography.
Last year I started a scrapbook/diary again to keep creating while I couldn’t take any pictures, now it’s a great place to collect things that inspire me.
What’s the best piece of advice about photography that you’ve ever received?
To keep going and never give up:) It’s not always an easy ride and a lot of things can go wrong before or during a shoot, but things either work out in the end or you try again.
