Jonathan Parodi
Always looking for the perfect photo, Italian photographer Jonathan Parodi combines attention to detail with the will to always get better
Intercru: Where are you from? Where do you live and work now?
Jonathan: I’m an Italian guy who lives and works in Liguria, specifically in Genoa.
How did you first get into photography?
I have always loved photography. I liked photography for a long time and after meeting various acquaintances, including my girlfriend with whom I work in this field, I decided to seriously undertake this path.
It’s now been 2 years since buying a Nikon D750. My main goal is to become a fashion photographer .
What is the feeling you like to express with your creative work?
Through my photos there are various emotions and relationships that I want to represent, such as elegance, delicacy, and a nostalgic sense of the photography of the past. Obviously I still have a lot to learn and know, however, considering that I have been shooting for much less time than others.
Where do you find inspiration for your work?
Now we live in an era in which two clicks are enough and you have everything under your eyes, especially through social media. So it happened to me too, at the beginning I was inspired by those who I thought were much better at expressing themselves in their shots.
Slowly, over time, I learned to reflect more of my ideas and to know how to look at what surrounds me. Now I can shoot my ideas without having to resort to finding them from others, even if looking at the work of others is always important for a wider mental openness.
What’s your favorite part about photography and going on photoshoots?
One of my favorite parts is building a relationship with the subject. No matter how big you get, it’s important in my opinion to always do a great job.
Then of course the best part is when you come home and look at the photos you took. There are often times where I stop to look at a single shot for several minutes because I am convinced that if I do not stop to understand what I want people feel, I can’t expect others to do it.
What is your favorite subject to photograph?
As for the subjects, what I love most is undoubtedly to photograph people and models because they allow me to give full interpretation to my shots. Of course I tried to shoot with male models too but they never gave me what I wanted with fullness and therefore I always looked for female subjects.
If you had to sum up your work and style in one sentence, what would it be?
