Ergi Murra

Beauty and simplicity in every photo

Intercru: Where are you from? Where do you live/work now?

Ergi: I’m 21 and I live in Crema, a little city near Milan, but I’m from Albania originally.

I work as a programmer for a software company. Photography is a passion that’s grown through the years, and it’s become a constant part of my life.

How did you first get into photography?

The story about how I first got into photography is little weird. I’ve had this passion since I was young; I remember going around with disposable cameras to shoot everything I liked in primary school. But I didn’t get really interested in photography until my parents got me my first compact camera.

My dad always wanted a reflex camera and one day he bought one, a Canon 1200D. But he never really used it, so I decided to take it to record a YouTube video for my old channel and to take photos to some friends at sunset. No one would have ever thought that would be my very first camera and that I was going to use it for years. And in that moment I knew it was really the start my passion.

Now I shoot with a Sony Alpha 7III and my faithful Sigma ART 35 mm lens.

How do you define your style as a photographer?

I like taking female portraits, but I don’t think I’m at that point of my career yet where I can define my style at 100%.

I know I still have to give something more to my pictures for a viewer to understand, just with a look, that that photo is mine. In fact I think it’s one of the most difficult thing to do, especially because I’m always looking for something new to create and show.

What is the feeling you like to express with your creative work?

I like to give a sense of beauty and simplicity to my photos, but sometimes I also want to try to tell something like there’s a story behind the shots I take.

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

I look for inspiration everywhere, especially in other photographers. By now the Internet has became the principal and essential item to find inspiration.

Sometimes I even buy a photography book; one of my favorites is from Vincent Peters. I love his pictures and I also tried to create some photos of mine inspired by him and I hope you can note.

What’s your favorite part about photography and going on photoshoots?

The thing I like the most about my job is the interaction and human part of the people I shoot with. Sometimes it’s easier to judge someone just by her aspect or by the first look, but I like to try to know that person better and find out her best part and to show that with a picture. I want them to be themselves.

What are your goals for the future of your photography work?

Definitely I want to find my own style. A style which can make you know that that photo is taken by me. This is my principal goal for the future….from there we will see.
