Intercru: Where are you from? Where do you live and work now?

Mariane: I am from the Philippines but now I live and work as a Registered Nurse in Australia

When did you get started with photography?

I started photography back in 2014, when I first moved in Australia. I was amazed and stunned by the beautiful beaches here. It made me realize how wonderful it is to live close to the ocean and just take photographs of people, the ocean, sunrise, sunsets, and everything in between. I love nostalgic and feel-good photography.

For you, what makes the perfect photo?

For me a perfect photo must give you a certain feeling or emotion and it should always convey a sense of depth. Creating depth helps draw the viewers eye into the scene. This is especially important in landscape photography.

Do you plan out the photos that you take or all they all spontaneous?

All my photos were taken spontaneously using my iPhone. I always carry my iPhone X with me whenever I travel. I always aim to create clean and simple compositions.

What are some of your favorite beaches to go and photograph?

Some of my favorite places to go and photograph are Byron Bay, Tamarama Beach, and the Great Ocean Road.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

If I could travel right now, I would want to visit Iceland and Switzerland.

I am drawn to see Switzerland and Iceland because of their stunning natural beauty. The scenery promises an endless series of snow-covered mountains, volcanos, and ice fields. They have rugged, “other-worldly” terrain, Nordic icy views, and views like nothing you’ll see in the rest of the world.
