128th Avenue

“The more I look from within the more I find something that I never thought I had in me.”

Intercru: Where are you from?

128th Avenue: I was born in a city named Cape Town in South Africa. I moved around locally growing up but eventually ended up back in Cape Town

Where do you live and work now?

I’m currently living in Cape Town. Well for work, I’m all over the place at the moment. Currently I have a business selling hair products locally, while being a freelance photographer and videographer and I’m also getting a degree in Multi-Media (one year left).

How did you get started in photography?

My introduction to photography was by my degree. I previously had interest in it but I never followed up on it. Once I got my camera, though, there was no turning back. Photography now is my first love and I’m learning more with time.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

Myself. The more I look from within the more I find something that I never thought I had in me. This also pushes me to grow and get out my comfort zone.

How would you define your creative style?

Chaotic neutral. I find that we’re in a time where following trends is so saturated, that there is a lack of personality in most art. So, finding freedom within is maybe what helps me stand out even if it’s the smallest detail.

Where do you go to look for creative inspiration?

Oddly enough most of my inspiration comes from my surroundings and the people around me. One of my best friends who is also a talented photographer showed me that there is always beauty to be found in the least expected place. So, simplicity is key in my work most of the time as my style continues to evolve.
