Tropics Paris

Founded by Olivier Parsi and Julien Pounchou, Tropics represents everything that Intercru loves. Prints, books, box sets and music…the Tropics studio is dedicated to all forms of art. In this article, co-founder Olivier tells us how the studio came to be and what they’re working on.

Julien and I met over 15 years ago when we lived in the south of France. We both traveled the world and when we were close again a couple years ago, we decided we could start a creative project with both our experiences.

I had some experience in publishing, having run a magazine for a few years in my twenties. Since those days, Julien had become a professional photographer and developed a unique aesthetic so we thought the time was right to work together.

We first published some screen prints of his pictures and during this process we discovered we both wanted to publish works from other artists from our network.

We decided on the name Tropics and slowly started to assemble the pieces to this new puzzle.

We sell screen prints which are printed in Paris. They require a few more technical steps to get to the final printed poster than the giclée prints which are printed from digital files by very precise printers.

Along these main products we also publish books, box sets with various pictures and accessories, and we are starting to offer home goods too.

We launched our new website designed by Gabriel and Daniel from the Berlin based agency Sometimes Always and we have asked some of our friends to prepare playlists and creative goods for our customers to download since most of us have to stay indoors at the moment.

We have several projects coming out in the next months, such as books, posters, and textiles, all of which are available on www.tropics.paris.

TROPICS is a Paris-based publishing office and online shop, offering a curated selection of high-quality posters and art prints from upcoming and established artists.
